BEYOND THINGS-Carlos Trilnick
Hardcore Art Gallery – June 14, 2008
Argentinean artist, Carlos Trilnick’s exhibit is made up of an interconnection of photographic works in digital support made in his country of origin and his present stay as visiting professor of digital media in the University of California in San Diego.
As much his photographic tryptich titled “Freedom-Equality-Fraternity” as his digital videos, for example “Non signal no bad” or his recent animation “Echo Park” demonstrate the solidity of an artist who is one of the precursors of video art in Argentina. Thus visible in his work in the collections of the MOMA, NY, the Museum of Modern Art or the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, both in Buenos Aires, in addition to innumerable collections in Israel, Argentina, Colombia or the USA, among others.
In this opportunity the artist builds a visual situation of static image and in movement from the digital media - without camera use- thinking of it from his historical acceleration as possibility within the world of art.
Trilnick is an artist of great conceptual and technical wholeness; his work is always constructed from the concept towards the image and from here towards the perception with the calm rapidity that a virus could incur in our privacy. Image and sound, visibility and construction of a digital reality to a space suspended of hyper-concept demonstrate that technological means can be a reflection of that which can be manipulated in favor of an idea.
